Hello! I'm an Electrical Engineering student from Colorado. I developed a couple of designs for soil moisture sensors that use the physical properties of water to measure soil saturation, rather than trying to measure some kind of electrical parameter. Pure water is an insulator, after all. I am publishing the designs under an Open Hardware License to allow others to refine and diversify the technology. I think it could be very useful for water conservation to have accurate, affordable sensors that don't drift or corrode.
